                Hopping and Phonon Dynamics in Cluster Crystals

                                   Abstract:
 We will discuss the equilibrium properties and phase transitions observed in a
novel class of penetrable, soft colloidal particles, which have the property of
forming ordered cluster crystals. On the basis of their equilibrium behavior, we
 will proceed to examine the internal dynamics of these systems at high and low
   temperatures. At high temperatures, the particle motions are dominated by
  hopping across lattice sites, leading to diffusive, ergodic crystals. At low
temperatures, we will demonstrate that the dynamics is dominated by phonons and
   that the phonon spectrum of these systems is unusual and universal for all
members of the class. In addition, we will establish the existence of a cascade
of infinitely many isostructural transitions at low temperatures, terminating at
                                critical points.
