The third edition of the Summer School "a scientific retreat at the foot of the East face of Monte Rosa" will be held from 15 to 20 September 2024. The first edition, held at the CAI Zamboni-Zappa Refuge and the second one at the Casa Alpina in Pecetto were a great success and so this year a new edition is being proposed in the Pecetto area of Macugnaga (VB).
This event is one of the cornerstones of the third mission project of the CC3M-INFN RADIOLAB and ISOradioLAb carried out in collaboration with the PLS-Physics.
25 students from the 4th and 5th years of high school, selected from all Italian schools, along with representatives from the Italo-Albanian section of the Themistokli Germenji High School in Korçë, participate in the RADIOLAB & ISOradioLab project at both national and international levels. During the 5 days of the Summer School, they will deepen their understanding, along with their teachers, of topics related to the natural radioactivity of the mountainous environment hosting them, particularly focusing on the natural gas 222-Rn. Through a strictly experimental approach, they will expand their knowledge on methods of measuring radioactivity, have meetings with experts in glaciology and geology, and also discover the world of the local population, the Walser.

As for the teachers, the School will repersent a moment of reflection on the topics covered and on how to decline and implement their experience during the Summer School in their school programs.
Everyone will be guided in this experience by university professors and INFN researchers supported by a group of tutors from the Health Physics Course who are eager to try their hand at introducing and transmitting their enthusiasm for these topics to the younger ones.
Local Alpine guides will lead the day of educational excursions on the paths of geological interest in the mountain area.
